In refusing a third party’s application for judicial review of a decision of the Lord Chancellor the Administrative Court ruled in 2019 that the notarial profession had in its evidence “clearly raised a matter of public interest”.
He has been appointed as a Nominated Notary by the Registrar of the Court of Faculties on various occasions since 2013. Accordingly he has investigated complaints of misconduct against notaries ranging from unfounded or relatively minor (such as a modest dispute over fees) to serious allegations such as conflict of interest, forgery of signatures and negligent involvement in an investment scam.
